A brand new building of the Seventh-day Adventist Church De Veldt, Berbice River was rededicated on April 2nd by President of the Guyana Conference of Seventh-day Adventist, Pastor Exton Clarke. A smaller building was first dedicated on December 10th , 1989. The church started in the community with three persons: Adina Lindie, Lloyd Lindie and Lowell Elton Lindie, who is now a serving pastor with the conference. The first baptism in the community took place on October 21st 1965 by Pastor Gordon O. Martinborough. In this composite photograph the new building can be seen and standing in front are some of the founding members. From left to right they are Elders Elvis Harris and Alan Harris Jnr, Pastor Lindie, Christian Harris and Romeo Harris. Among the officials present at the dedication were Executive Secretary of the conference Pastor Jomoul Sancho, the conference’s treasurer Rovina Harrinauth and Pastor Andrew Chichester, the Community Services Director among others.
