Massy Stores Guyana on Friday opened a third location, coined “Massy Stores Mini,” at Montrose, East Coast Demerara.
According to a media release from the company, the mini supermarket is a “convenience-type” store which it says occupies less space than its other two locations at Turkeyen, on the East Coast of Demerara, and Providence, on the East Bank of Demerara.
It was noted that the new location, at D3 Starlite Square, will offer a number of essential items, which include meats, frozen foods, alcohol and over the counter drugs along with household items. The Store’s Manager, Christpen Bobb-Semple, during the opening stated, “While we are offering a new format in a smaller retail space, it is important to note that the values which we uphold will not change”.
Bobb-Semple added that the new format caters for convenience shoppers with smaller baskets as opposed to their larger stores. As many person’s lifestyles are becoming more hectic and fast paced, he noted that convenience is now of great importance to shoppers. He went on to add that some shoppers need to regularly replenish basic items and as such the location caters for that.
“We appreciate that while we have larger stores in Providence and Turkeyen which more than adequately cater to shoppers who purchase many items, those who stock up for the household each month, there are also times when shoppers just need to regularly replenish the basic items,” he said.
Meanwhile the release noted that existing customers now have an additional location to redeem points using their “Massy Card” even as new customers can sign up for a card. Bobb-Semple told those present at the opening that Massy Stores will continue to maintain its standards and services.
