A mason who was on Wednesday slapped with two assault charges and a damage of property charge was granted bail. Kester Evelyn, 43, of Lot 140 Hadfield Street, D’Urban Backlands, Georgetown, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court where he was placed on $15,000 bail after he denied three charges.
The first charge brought against him states that on April 26, 2020, at D’Urban Backlands, he unlawfully and maliciously damaged three posts, valued $6,600, runners valued $15,000, and angling mesh valued $8,000, property of Indira Narine.
It is also alleged that on the same date and at the same location, he unlawfully assaulted Indira Narine and Katrina Johnson, so as to cause them actual bodily harm.
After entering his not guilty pleas, he was released on $10,000 bail for the damage of property charge and $5,000 bail was granted for each of the assault charges.
The matter was then transferred to Court 11 and fixed for a later date in May.
