Three men have been arrested after they were found in possession of a quantity of cannabis and amphetamine pills during a search carried out at the Sherima Police Checkpoint, Region Seven on Saturday morning.
According to a police report, at about 9am on Saturday a lorry registered as GZZ 8041 stopped at the Sherima Police Checkpoint and was subjected to a search of the vehicle and its occupants.
Discovered in one of the haversacks belonging to the men was a black purse containing two Ensure milk bottles in which 18 ziplock plastic bags of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis were found. Also found in the milk bottles were 15 plastic bags of pills suspected to be amphetamines. When weighed, the cannabis amounted to 39 grammes while the amphetamines amounted to 3 grams.
After a further search carried out on the lorry, ranks discovered a green and black haversack containing a cup with seeds, leaves and stems believed to be marijuana. Upon weighing, the additional cannabis was said to be 58 grams. An undisclosed quantity of cash was also found.
The driver and the two occupants were arrested and placed in custody.
