Envoys of the United States, the Euro-pean Union, the United King-dom and Canada yesterday called on Guyana’s civil society and political leaders to embark on a process of engagement and change this year with the aim of decriminalising intimate same-sex relations.
“We understand and respect that countries are at different stages of acceptance and engagement on this issue. Neverthe-less, human rights of all persons are universal and indivisible, and these include the human rights of LGBTQI+ persons”, the envoys said in a statement to mark International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOTB) which was observed yesterday.
