(Jamaica Star) Residents of Harmony Town situated in Dalling Street, Savanna-la-Mar, yesterday joined forces with the Westmoreland police in search of a 15-year-old boy who allegedly shot and killed his six-year-old cousin.
The deceased has been identified as Jadaine Miller, a student of Dalling Street. Reports from the police are that about 2:30 p.m., the boy was in his yard when he was shot by his 15-year-old cousin, who lives at the same address. The teen reportedly walked away from the scene after he opened fire at Jadaine, hitting him on the left side of his back.
Jadaine’s uncle, who gave his name as Romario, said the young boy collapsed in his arms after being shot.
“Mi was in mi house today when mi hear a loud explosion, and mi get up off mi bed and guh look tru mi back door. Same time mi see when mi sister run out and ask what happen, an mi hear mi niece sey Jadaine get shot,” Romario recounted.
“Same time mi see (Jadaine) run come a mi sister doorway, and mi see the blood a spew from him body. As him drop inna mi hand mi run go out the road wid him inna mi hand, and call a youth wid a car and him drop mi up a hospital. The doctor dem tend to him but it was too late fi him,” the uncle said.
The child’s mother, Chrissincia Kelly, was in a state of shock as the story of her son’s sudden and tragic demise was recounted. The reality was too much for her, she could not speak. Romario, her brother, said it is painful to imagine young Jadaine as dead. He was full of life.
“Jadaine was a nice boy, always a give joke round the house, and love him kite bad, bad,” Romario said.
He could not say the same of his other nephew, who is believed to have pulled the trigger that resulted in Jadaine’s life being cut short.
“Him always a give trouble round di yard, but wi never know seh it would a come to this when him come shoot him own cousin,” Romario said.
