Dear Editor,
It is time we call a spade a spade! Every day on social media I would see multiple posts about power outages commonly known as blackouts. I must say the scheduled power outages are understandable since they are for maintenance, however I am baffled as to why we continue to experience unexpected blackouts. The inconvenience caused by this is massive for some who are working from home, persons are losing their produce that’s stored in their refrigerators because there is no power to keep it on. Let us not forget about the random fluctuation of voltages! What are we doing? We are in 2021 shaping up to be the next Dubai and yet still we experience power outages constantly. The bulldogs might say everything cannot happen in one night, but power supply is now a necessity that we pay for! Hope-fully something is done to rectify the sloppy service Guyanese are being offered.
The Irfaan Ali administration needs to rectify this in the fastest way possible!
Sincerely,
Tanya Niamatali
