A 51-year-old taxi driver was yesterday afternoon carjacked by three suspects in Festival City, North Ruimveldt, Georgetown, one of whom boarded his taxi as a passenger.
The suspects who are still at large escaped in the victim’s car, a silver Toyota Carina 212 bearing registration number HC 4492 and valued at $1.9 million. The victim was also robbed of a Blu cellphone valued at $4,500, and an undisclosed amount of cash and a quantity of documents.
According to a police report, about 1 o’clock yesterday afternoon the taxi driver picked up an identifiable male who requested to be taken to North Ruimveldt. As they were driving along Blue Mountain Road in Festival City, two men were spotted on the roadway and the passenger requested the driver to pull over saying that the men owed him.
However, when the driver complied, one of the men darted over to the driver’s side of the car and pointed a handgun to his head. The suspect with the gun then ordered the victim to lie on the road while another man searched his pockets relieving him of the above mentioned articles.
The suspect who initially boarded the taxi as a passenger then took control of the car while the other two suspects joined the car in the backseat and made good their escape.
