A taxi driver was on Wednesday released on $75,000 bail on a felonious wounding charge.
It is alleged that Jermaine Joseph, 41, of Lot 3748 North Ruimveldt, George-town on March 4, while at Cross Street, Alexander Village, Georgetown, feloniously wounded Neron Yarris with the intention to maim, disfigure or disable.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail in the sum of $75,000 with the conditions that he make no contact with the virtual complainant, stay at least 50 feet away from Yarris, and that he report to the officer in charge of the Ruimveldt Police Station every Friday at 9am.
Particulars of the matter stated that Joseph and Yarris who both work at the Green Ice Taxi Service, on the day in question, were gambling when a fight ensued over a misunderstanding.
It is alleged that Joseph armed himself with a cutlass and dealt Yarris one chop to his forehead and another to his right hand.
The matter was reported to the Ruimveldt Police Station.
