A youth is now in custody after robbing a GR taxi service driver at First Street, Agricola, East Bank Demerara, on Monday night.
The driver, age 31, was robbed by two men and a woman, who requested to be taken to First Street, Agricola.
The Guyana Police Force, in a press release, stated that the driver was relieved of a $47,000 cellphone, a wallet valued $5,000 and $10,000 cash and documents.
Police enquiries revealed that one of the perpetrators, who was seated in the front passenger seat of the vehicle, placed the car in park as they all pointed their guns at the victim.
The report explained that two of the perpetrators then carried out a search on the victim, relieving him of the items mentioned above, before hitting him to his head and escaping on foot east along a dam.
A report was subsequently made at the Agricola Police Outpost, after which the police escorted the victim into the said area and a 19-year-old was identified and arrested.
Investigations are ongoing.
