A Parfaite Harmonie businessman and his family were in the wee hours of yesterday robbed by five males armed with guns and cutlasses who tied them up before robbing them of jewellery, gadgets, and cash.
According to a police report, the family was robbed of $710,000 in cash, USD$500, 2 Alcatel cellphones valued $20,000, 1 Samsung A50 cellphone valued $75,000, 1 Samsung J20 cellphone valued $20,000, 1 LG cellphone valued $41,000, 1 Maxwell cellphone valued $13,000, 1 Lenovo Laptop valued $100,000, 2 Samsung tablets valued $73,000, 1 portable DVD player valued $36,000, 1 PlayStation 3 with control and game valued $85,000, 1 laptop speaker box valued $75,000, 2 speaker boxes valued $12,000, 5 wristwatches valued $90,000, 1 wedding band valued $35,000 and 4 pairs gold earrings valued $50,000 among other items.
Enquiries revealed that the businessman and his family would usually leave home around 3:30am for the La Penitence Market where they conduct business on Sundays. It was when the man came downstairs to start his vehicle that he noticed muddy footprints in his yard and became suspicious.
He was then accosted by a man wielding a gun who ordered him not to move or make a sound. It was at this point that he saw four other males under his house. Two of the men tied him up while the others went to the upper flat where they also tied up his wife and two daughters. The perpetrators then took the businessman to the upper flat where they demanded money and jewellery during which time he was beaten in the head. His wife was also injured while the man was being beaten.
The suspects then carted off the mentioned items.
