Golden Fleece Sports Club were crowned the inaugural Babulall and Sons T10 softball champions when they defeated Queenstown Ariel by six wickets recently.
Queenstown won the toss and elected to bat first posting 85 for three while Golden Fleece replied with 86-4 in 7.4 overs.
Essequibo franchise seamer, Nieland Codagan was vital for Golden Fleece, following up his one wicket for nine runs by top scoring with 24. Queenstown had their moments when Frank Satrohan, who made 29, was at the crease.
Earlier, semi-final action saw Golden Fleece defeating Adventure Sports club by five wickets. Adventure posted 78 while Golden Fleece reached their target with 10 balls to spare.
Golden Fleece’s Ruvindra Madhoo was named Man-of-the-Match for his 26 and 1-18.
Queenstown also stormed to the final by defeating Venom by 16 runs.
Brian Mangar top scored with 73 and was supported by Andy Fernandes (43) as Queenstown posted 128 for three.
In reply, Venom were contained to 112 for seven with Amir Yusuf scoring 46.
The tournament was open to teams on the Essequibo Coast and was sponsored by Indarpaul Babulall and his son Navin, Trophy Stall, Norman Sue Bakery, I saw that on TV and More, and Paul Jaman.
