Erosion at Hill Foot creating hazardous conditions for vehicles

Dear Editor,

On leaving the junction of Soesdyke-Linden Highway, driving up the highway about a mile from the junction on the North is a village named Hill Foot. It is a developing village of white sandy soil and some amount of red loam. There are two sections with a newer one on the east where houses are now being erected. Both sections have a main entrance from the highway which is close to a GWI hut. On turning in to the village, one is greeted to an exposed metal water line/pipe. Only the section that crosses the entrance is exposed. In driving over this exposed pipe, the vehicle would drop into a large puddle then proceed with caution until all the wheels are safely away. With the constant rains, turning from the highway into Hill Foot entrance is also hazardous because of the erosion beside the edge of the highway which has created a ‘drop’ for vehicles that are smaller than lorries. I am not sure which NDC is responsible for that area or village, but I would urge the relevant authority to please look at this situation for an urgent remedy.

Sincerely,
