Two new COVID-19 deaths were yesterday recorded as the country’s total cases surpassed 18,000.
This was announced by the Ministry of Health in a press release where it was stated that the latest fatalities which were recorded on June 9, have increased the country’s death toll to 419. They were identified as two men, a 58-year-old and a 42-year-old, both from Region Four. They both died while receiving care at a medical institution.
Meanwhile with the 149 new cases, the country’s total confirmed cases have risen to 18,088. These came after 1,135 new tests which have increased the total tests to date to 165,757.
The new cases were recorded in eight regions with regions Three, Four, and Nine recording the majority of the cases with 23, 44 and 37 new cases respectively. There are now 1,607 active cases, of whom 101 are in institutional isolation while another 1,506 are in home isolation.
There are now 20 persons in the COVID-19 ICU while another 205 persons have recovered, lifting the total number of recovered cases to 16,042.
