A man was on Thursday morning found dead at his Foulis, East Coast Demerara residence.
The body of Kissoon Latchman, 45, who police said was an alcoholic, was discovered sometime around 6 am.
The police, in a report, stated that Latchman on Wednesday left his daughter’s residence under the influence of alcohol and was last seen alive at about 8.30 pm lying in a hammock at his home.
However, on the day in question, a friend of Latchman, who usually checked on him daily, observed his door to be ajar.
Upon further enquiries, he discovered Latchman lying backward on a chair with blood about his head. Blood was also seen in several areas in the house.
The report said the friend immediately raised an alarm, and the police were called to the scene. An examination of the body uncovered what appeared to be a wound to the left side of the head.
The body was taken to the Enmore Polyclinic, where Latchman was officially pronounced dead.
Meanwhile, the son of the deceased, Pareshram Latchman, told Stabroek News that Kissoon’s body was discovered on Thursday morning.
The man explained that it is believed that his father fell out of his hammock, injuring himself as a result. He disclosed that it is possible that his father lost consciousness and bled to death.
The father of three was described as easy going. A post-mortem examination revealed his cause of death as being due to brain haemorrhaging.
