Matthews Ridge woman, 32, found dead hours after falling ill

Police are investigating the death of a 32-year-old housewife, who was found dead at Minad Village, Matthews Ridge, in Region One.

The Guyana Police Force said the deceased, Jacqueline Gounga, was found dead in her bed by relatives on Friday morning.

Gounga, who was described as an alcoholic, was reported to have fallen ill around 10 pm on Thursday night, causing her to go to bed.

Around 8 am on Friday, her relatives observed that she was motionless, which they reported to the Matthews Ridge Police Station.

The body was escorted to Pakera District Hospital, where it was pronounced dead on arrival. Ranks checked the body of the deceased and did not observe any marks of violence, police added.
