In an effort to assist communities across Guyana affected by flooding brought on by an above-normal rainy season, Demerara Bank Limited on Wednesday last donated food items, hygiene and cleaning supplies, and other items to the Civil Defence Commission (CDC) to boost the agency’s humanitarian efforts.
According to Demerara Bank release, the items were handed over in a ceremony at the Central Islamic Organisation of Guyana (CIOG), Woolford Avenue, Georgetown.
Chairman of the Bank, Dr Yesu Persaud, acknowledged the quick response and efforts of the CDC while noting that it has been many years since the country has experienced such a natural disaster. And CEO of the Bank, Pravinchandra Dave, committed the Bank to remaining active in its role, through its corporate citizenship, to provide relief to families and communities of flood-affected areas.
