A Linden man was on Friday charged with firing a gun at another man.
Mark Perry, also known as ‘Uno,’ 49, of Blueberry Hill, Wismar, Linden, appeared before Magistrate Wanda Fortune at the Linden Magistrate’s Court, where the charge was read to him. He allegedly discharged a loaded firearm at Godfrey Jones on Tuesday night.
He was not allowed to plead to the charge and was remanded to prison for the offence.
He will make his next appearance on July 15 for a report on the case.
According to police, the incident involved an ongoing dispute between two neighbours, Jones, called ‘Makelky,’ and Esther Browne, both of Silvertown, Wismar, Linden, who on Tuesday night were arguing again.
Jones had thrown objects into Browne’s yard, the police said, leading to the argument.
At the time of the incident, both she and her husband were at home. However, she told her husband to go and make a report at the police station, while she summoned Perry.
The police said Perry subsequently arrived at about 10.45 pm that night armed with a silver handgun, which he pointed in Jones’ direction and discharged several rounds, causing him to run for cover in a nearby yard. He was not injured.
Police later visited the scene with Jones and they recovered three 9mm spent shells.
