Head-coach of Guyana’s men’s senior basketball team Junior Hercules is scheduled to participate in the prestigious 15th International Basketball Coaches Clinic which is being staged under the auspices of the Turkish Basketball Federation (TBF).
Hercules, in an exclusive interview with Stabroek Sport, said that the objective is to augment and improve his overall knowledge in the discipline, with emphasis on team preparation, game strategies and youth development.
“My expectation is to enhance my knowledge in the areas of team preparation and in game strategies.
“The areas that I want to build on are team preparation and, in-game strategies as well as youth programme development with an emphasis on talent recognition and development.”
Hercules said that the programme is open to coaches who aspire to develop and coach at the highest echelons of the sport.
“This programme is open to all coaches and was sent through the GABF and if persons are desirous of participating they can contact me and register themselves.
This is really geared for the highest in the respective fields, if you have aspirations to become a national coach this is a programme that you should take advantage of. Whether youth, tertiary or national, it’s for the highest level.”
The course, which is approved by the world governing body, the International Federation of Association Basketball (FIBA), will be held from July 2nd-4th 2021 via the TBF Academy distance education platform.
The deadline for applications to the 15th International Basketball Coaches Clinic has been extended from June 25, 2021 to June 30, 2021, following demand from various National Federations and coaching associations, a release from the course administrators stated.
According to the correspondence, “Within the scope of the clinic, it is aimed to contribute to the career development of our coaches, who are among the most valuable parts of basketball.
The clinic, which will be organized by TBF, will bring together basketball coaches from all countries under the umbrella of online basketball in accordance with the digital age.”
The 15th International Basketball Coaches Clinic will be broadcast in Turkish and English. Coaches attending the clinic will receive a FIBA-approved certificate of attendance. In the online event, a 360-degree comprehensive training is planned by valuable basketball coaches from the USA and Europe, as well as expert conditioners, communication specialist basketball players and academics.
