COVID fatalities rise by four, 14 new cases reported

Guyana’s COVID-19 fatalities have risen by four to 466.

The Ministry of Health announced the deaths in a press release yesterday. They occurred between June 24 and 27. Three of these persons are from Region Four and were identified as a 65-year-old woman,  a 64-year-old woman and 73-year-old man who died on June 24, 25 and 27  respectively. The fourth fatality was identified as a 49-year-old man from Region Three who passed on June 26.

Meanwhile, some 14 new cases of the virus were recorded yesterday thus increasing the total number in the country to 18,891. These came after some 275 tests were done, lifting the total number done to date to 185,647.

Regions One, Six and Nine recorded two new cases each while one new case was recorded in Region Three and seven in Region Four. There are now 1,626 active cases, 87 of whom are in institutional isolation while another 1,539 are in home isolation.

Some 15 persons are patients at the COVID-19 ICU while 103 more persons have recovered from the virus thus increasing the total number of recovered cases to 17,784.
