Kishon Alexander, who was found guilty of an armed robbery attack on a vendor, was on Monday sentenced to nine months in jail.
Alexander was sentenced by Magistrate Dylon Bess, who presided over his trial.
It was alleged that on December 19, 2020, at Water and Croal streets, Georgetown, Alexander, in the company of others and armed with a knife, robbed Denish Jaisiri of a Samsung Galaxy J6 phone, valued at $60,000.
According to the police prosecutor, on the day in question the victim left his Stabroek Market stall and proceeded to a Water and Croal streets to purchase a quantity of boots to resell.
However, as he was leaving that location he was confronted by Alexander, who instructed him to remain quiet and hit him several times in his head with a knife, while his accomplice searched him and relieved him of his phone.
