-Lewis moves into top 10 among T20I batsmen
After a week off the pinnacle of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Test all-rounder rankings, Jason Holder has found himself back at the top while Evin Lewis has moved into the top 10 in the T20I batting rankings.
This is according to the latest rankings issued by the ICC yesterday.
Ravindra Jadeja was leading the Test all-rounder rankings two points ahead of the 6’ 7” West Indian Holder but has now slipped to second with 377 points, equal to second-placed Ben Stokes of England. Holder is now seven points ahead.
Holder remained the only West Indian in the top 10 while Kemar Roach also moved two places up to 12th.
Over in the shortest format, the T20I rankings, left-handed opener, Evin Lewis, jumped three places to 10th after his 35-ball 71 in the opening match of the five-match series against South Africa.
There are no other West Indies batsman in the top 50. Skipper, Kieran Pollard comes in as the second highest ranked player at 59th.
South Africa’s T20I skipper, Temba Bavuma recorded an impressive leap to 64th; jumping 24 spots up the table while Quinton de Kock moved one spot into 22nd and Reeza Hendricks leaped three places into 24th. In the bowling department, left-arm spinner, Fabian Allen also moved three places up to a career-high 20th position. South Africa’s Trabazi Shamsi remains the top ranked bowler in the format, extending his lead at the top with a career-best rating of 250.
West Indies left-arm seamer, Sheldon Cottrell, who has not featured in the first three matches in the ongoing series, remains the highest ranked West Indian T20I bowler despite slipping to 19th.
Additionally, Holder has moved one place up the bowling rankings to 45th with a career-best ranking of 477 while Pollard remains the only West Indies all-rounder in the top 20 at 19th.
