Several persons were injured in a collision between a car and minibus at Vryheid’s Lust Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD) on Saturday night.
The accident involved minibus BTT 8484 driven by forty-eight-year-old Corwin Abrams of Helena Number One, Mahaica and a car PLL 2388 driven by Hemraj Persaud of Enmore, ECD.
According to a police report, enquiries revealed that about 7 pm on Saturday, the car proceeded south out of Better Hope’s Northern Access Road and onto the Public Road and into the path of the minibus resulting in the collision. Following the collision, the bus slammed into a traffic light pole.
Several passengers and the driver of the minibus who suffered injuries were escorted to the Georgetown Public Hospital by public-spirited citizens where all but one passenger were seen by a doctor and sent away. The passenger, twenty-one-year-old Xavier Jaramillo of Helena was admitted having suffered a fractured left thigh.
The driver of the car along with a twenty-one-year-old occupant were also taken to the hospital where they were treated and sent away.
Investigations are ongoing.
