Former Floodlights Masters cricketer, Terry Singh is the latest contributor to the ‘cricket gear for young and promising cricketers in Guyana project.’

The donation happened earlier this week and Rabindra, as Singh is popularly known, said that he is happy to be part of this initiative and intended to make a contribution from the time he saw it in the press.

He also stated that he is confident that his contribution will make a difference in the lives of two young cricketers.

The boots were bought from Ravi Etwaroo of Cricket Zone, USA and will shipped in shortly.

The project is a joint effort between Guyana Cricket Board executive, Anil Beharry and United States of America-based, Kishan Das.

Their aim is to provide cricket gear free of cost for young and talented cricketers in Guyana. The project is seeking new and used cricket gear which will then be distributed across the length and breadth of Guyana.

The total items collected so far are cash for first aid kit, two cricket boots, 12 pairs of batting pads, 11 bats, eight pairs of batting gloves and two cricket bags.

So far, 15 young players from Essequibo Coast and Pomeroon have already benefited from five bats, six pairs of batting pads and four pairs of batting gloves.

Two clubs in the Pomeroon area also benefited from two used bats.

According to a release from the duo, “Talent spotting will be done across Guyana along with guidance from club leaders to identify the players. Players must be in school and discipline. Players above school age will also be considered.”

“Das and Beharry would like to thank Imran and Javed Khan of West Indian Sports Complex, Option Group, Bish Panday of P and P Insurance Brokers, Sean Devers, Travis Simon, Hilbert Foster of RHTY&SC, Ariel Tilku, Aaron Beharry, Devon Ramnauth, Sherman Austin, Teddy Singh, Leana Bachan and Imran Saccoor,” the release stated.
