The trial of Afibia Yankana and Akeem Haymer who are accused of the 2017 fatal bus park stabbing of Rawle Rodrigues, is set to commence on Tuesday, July 13th before Justice Sandil Kissoon at the High Court in Georgetown.
The jury that will be hearing the case was empaneled yesterday morning.
The allegation against Yankana called “Dougla” and Haymer called “Curry,” is that on January 20th, 2017, they murdered Rawle Rodrigues during a robbery.
They both pleaded not guilty at their arraignment yesterday.
The prosecution led by State Counsel Lisa Cave, is expected to call just under 20 witnesses.
Yankana is being represented by defence attorney Rachel Bakker, while Haymer is being represented by attorney Lawrence Harris.
Rodrigues, formally of Leopold Street, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown, was fatally stabbed at the Dairy bus park (at La Parfaite Harmonie) at around 9.30 on the night in question.
