One hundred and twelve new COVID-19 cases were yesterday recorded along with two more fatalities.
This was disclosed by the Health Ministry in a press release which stated that the two new deaths increased Guyana’s toll to 486. The latest fatalities were identified as two females a 47-year-old from Region Four and a 68-year-old from Region Six. They both died while receiving care at a medical institution.
Meanwhile, the country’s total confirmed COVID-19 cases has increased to 20,757. The new cases came after some 1,807 more tests were done, thus increasing the total number of tests done to date to 197,502.
According to the regional distribution of confirmed cases, Region Four recorded the highest number of new cases with 76. Regions One and Five reported three new cases each, Region Two (1 new case), Region Three (10), Region Six (13), Region Seven (2) and Region Ten with 4 new cases.
There are now 1,463 active cases, 90 of whom are in institutional isolation while some 1,373 are in home isolation. Thirteen persons are currently in the country’s COVID-19 ICU even as some 148 more persons have recovered. The total number of recovered cases now stands at 18,795.
