Police on Friday arrested a 25-year-old man after finding a quantity of cocaine and cannabis near him during a mass stop and search operation on the East Coast.
In a statement, the police said the operation was being carried in Better Hope area around 7.10 pm on Friday.
The 25-year-old was stopped and searched but nothing was found on him.
However, a transparent plastic bag containing quantity of cocaine and a black plastic bag containing a quantity cannabis were found in the grass close to where he was seated. He denied ownership of the narcotics after being cautioned by the police, who subsequently arrested him and took him to the Sparendaam Police Station.
The cannabis weighed 80 grammes while the cocaine weighed 10 grammes.
The man is expected to be charged soon over the possession of the narcotics.
