Dwayne Daniel Taitt, 24, an Enforcement Officer at the Guyana Revenue Authority and of Lot 2 Middleton Street, Campbelville was this morning fatally stabbed and the suspect is in custody.
The police today said that Taitt was told yesterday by his landlord that he would have to leave the apartment that he and his family lived in on July 14th. Just after midnight today, Taitt was awakened by the suspect, a relative of the landlord, banging on his door with a piece of wood while calling on them to move out.
As a result Taitt opened the door and went out to the suspect who was armed with a knife which the police said that he used to attack Taitt.
Taitt ran out on a street opposite the said apartment where the suspect pursued him and dealt him a stab to his chest.
Taitt fell to the ground while the suspect fled the scene with the said weapon. The police say that Taitt was picked up by his reputed wife and a security guard and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation where he was pronounced dead by a doctor.
The body was examined and a wound was seen to his left upper chest. The body was escorted to the said hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem examination.
The suspect was arrested and is in custody. The weapon was recovered, statements taken and investigations are in progress.
