Three more COVID-19 fatalities were yesterday recorded with one of those deaths dating back to late June.
This was disclosed by the Ministry of Health in a press release which stated that the country’s total COVID-19 deaths had increased to 506. The latest deaths were two men from Region Three – a 65-year-old who died on July 13 and a 59-year-old who died on Thursday. The third fatality was reported as a 61-year-old woman from Region Ten who died on June 28.
Meanwhile, 51 new cases of the virus were reported, increasing the number of confirmed cases in the country to 21,274. These came after 963 tests were done which drove the total number of tests carried out to 205,962.
According to the regional distribution of cases, new infections were reported in eight of the ten administrative regions: Region One – 14 cases; Region Three – 5 cases; Region Four – 10 cases; Region Five – 6 cases, Region Six – 11 cases; Region Seven and Nine – 1 new case each; and Region Ten – 3 cases.
There are now 1,213 active cases in the country, 83 of whom are in institutional isolation while 1,130 are in home isolation. Some 10 persons are currently patients at the COVID-19 ICU and 110 more persons have recovered from the virus. A total of 19,545 recovered cases have been reported.
