A Castello Housing Scheme businesswoman and a shopkeeper were yesterday arrested after police reported that they found them with a gun and two live rounds.
Ranks attached to the Guyana Police Force (GPF) conducted a search between 6.30 am and 8.25 am at Lot 35 Castello Housing Scheme, Georgetown, said to be a business place and dwelling house.
According to a GPF statement, a 44-year-old businesswoman and a 40-year-old male shopkeeper were searched at the residence.
The police said the businesswoman was found with a .32 Taurus revolver bearing serial number QL42412 and two live .32 rounds in the gun.
The businesswoman and the shopkeeper were told of the offence committed, cautioned, arrested and escorted to Police Headquarters, Eve Leary.
They remained in police custody up to yesterday.
Meanwhile, the firearm and ammunition were sealed and lodged.
