Sixty-five new COVID-19 cases along with another death were yesterday recorded.
This is according to the Ministry of Health which stated that the country’s death toll as a result of the virus now stands at 515. The latest fatality was identified as an 88-year-old man from Region Four who died while receiving care at a medical institution.
Meanwhile, the 65 new cases increased the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 21,733. These came after some 1,144 tests were done, thus increasing the total number of persons tested to 213,349.
According to the regional breakdown of COVID-19 cases, new ones were reported in seven administrative regions; Region Two (one new case), Region Three (10), Region Four (33), Region Five (5), Regions Six and Seven (2 new cases each) and Region Ten (12 new cases).
There are now 1,194 active cases, 101 of whom are in institutional isolation while another 1,093 are in home isolation. Some 15 persons are now patients at the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit even as some 16 more persons have recovered. There are now a total of 20,009 recovered cases in the country.
