An 18-year-old man is currently hospitalised after he was chopped by another man who alleges that the victim was trying to steal five of his ducklings valued at $5,000.
The victim has been identified as ‘Pops’.
According to the police, in a report made by the 52-year-old suspect, about 3:40am yesterday at his 67 Village, Corentyne home, he caught the man in his duck pen with five of his ducklings in a salt bag. The suspect said that he also noticed that the victim had a knife on him and as such, he armed himself with a cutlass.
It is alleged by the suspect that the thief rushed at him with the knife in his hand which caused him to swing his cutlass at the man several times, causing him to suffer injuries.
The victim was escorted to the Skeldon Public Hospital where he was examined and treated for his wounds before being transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital.
The suspect has since been arrested and is currently assisting with investigations.
