The Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) will hold a special executive meeting tomorrow where they will discuss, among other things, the relationship with the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) and other cricket boards.
The notice of the meeting was published by the County board and details that the meeting will start at 16.15 hours at the BCB office in New Amsterdam.
President of the BCB, Hilbert Foster, serves as Vice-President of the GCB and a director on Cricket West Indies while BCB Vice-President, Rabindranuth Saywack is currently serving as the GCB’s Marketing Manager after relinquishing his short-lived stint as GCB Vice-President.
Additionally, the meeting will see discussions taking place relating to the restart of the 2021 season as well as the rules surrounding the resumption. There is expected to be talks with respect to ground preparation, in light of several venues benefiting from the brush cutter project recently.
“The Berbice Cricket Board would like to inform all cricket leaders and clubs that they should start preparing their venues as soon as possible. The BCB intends to restart the 2021 season in September at the Under-13, U15, U17, U19, U23, second-division, female and first-division levels,” the BCB stated.
“There has been an improvement in the weather and we should take advantage of that. We have about 20 tournaments to complete before the end of the current executives term of office. The time span might only allow us to host one or two first-division tournaments while second-division tournaments, which are in progress would be completed,” the BCB notice stated.
Also on the agenda are talks on cricket academies and coaching programmes, a coaching manual and the distribution of gear donated from England across the region.
Both a financial statement and a president report will be tabled as well as a Hall of Fame induction.
