(Trinidad Guardian) A fisherman was fatally shot during a robbery at his Claxton Bay home on Wednesday night.
He has been identified as Deosaran Basdeo, 57, also known as Blackie, of Southern Main Road.
Police said shortly before 8 pm, he was asleep on a bed in the living room.
A man wearing dark clothing and a mask stormed into the house and announced a hold-up. Pointing a gun at Basdeo’s wife and his 17-year-old grandson, the gunman robbed them of cash, jewellery, a phone and a tablet.
Police said the gunman then went into the next room where Basdeo was still asleep and shot him on the bed.
