The Ministry of Health (MoH) yesterday confirmed the deaths of six more persons who were infected with COVID-19.
With the newest confirmed fatalities, the total number of deaths related to COVID-19 in Guyana has moved to 541.
A statement from the MoH identified the newly confirmed fatalities as a 48-year-old woman who died on July 10; a 95-year-old woman, a 56-year-old woman, a 33-year-old woman and a 56-year-old man, who all died on July 29; and a 61-year-old man, who died on July 30. With the exception of the 48-year-old woman, who was from Region Ten, the fatalities were all from Region Four.
According to the Ministry, they all died while receiving treatment.
For the month up to Friday, 64 persons who were infected with the virus had died, with 18 confirmed during the past week.
Meanwhile, the ministry’s COVID-19 dashboard showed that 65 new infections had been confirmed from 1,165 tests, increasing the total number of cases recorded in the country to 22,523 to date. Of the new cases, 7 are from Region Nine, 34 from Region Four, 11 from Region Three, 4 from Region Ten, and 1 from Region Two, 2 from Region Five, along with 3 each from regions One and Six.
The dashboard also showed that 14 persons were in the Intensive Care Unit, 86 in institutional isolation, 699 in home isolation and 3 in institutional quarantine.
Based on the dashboard from last Sunday to yesterday 433 person were confirmed to be infected with the virus from 8,273 tests.
