A search is underway for convicted prisoner Quincy Clarke, who escaped from the Lusignan Prison yesterday morning.
Clarke, 38, former a resident of West La Penitence, Georgetown, was only incarcerated at the end of last week to serve four weeks for threatening language. His two four-week sentences were to be served concurrently. If recaptured, he stands to face a lengthier sentence for escaping.
Police yesterday confirmed the escape, which occurred between 2 am and 2.10 am.
According to a police report, enquiries revealed that two ranks were performing duties at one of the prison’s holding bay yesterday morning when they noticed an unidentifiable male running and pushing an XR motorcycle.
The officers, the report said, shouted at the male to stop but he didn’t.
As a result, a chase ensued during which Clarke dropped the motorcycle and escaped.
“The male then dropped the motorcycle, jumped a trench and ran west into some bushes, making good his escape,” the police said.
The ranks, the report added, later learnt that the individual they were chasing was a prisoner and the motorcycle belonged to a prison officer.
