A woman who accepted a drop from an unknown driver at Tuschen Housing Scheme has said she had to break the window of his vehicle to escape after the driver refused to let her out.
According to a Guyana Police Force release, the 21-year-old woman, of Met-en-Meerzorg, West Coast Demerara, boarded the black Juke car at about 4.30 pm on Friday.
The release said that the woman had been at Tuschen New Housing Scheme awaiting transportation when the car, driven by a man, with a woman in the front passenger seat, approached and offered her a drop.
The Met-en-Meerzorg woman then agreed and entered the vehicle. Upon arriving at a junction she indicated that she wanted to be let out of the vehicle but her request was ignored and the driver proceeded to turn onto the Tuschen Public Road. The woman then became fearful and decided to break a side window of the vehicle, causing the driver to stop. She then rushed out with her belongings. The vehicle drove off. The incident was then reported to the police at the Leonora Police Station.
