Two women die from COVID, 24 new cases reported

Two more COVID-19 fatalities were yesterday reported along with 24 new cases of the virus.

This was disclosed by the Ministry of Health in a press release which stated that the country’s COVID-19 deaths had increased to 549. The latest fatalities were identified as two women, a 54-year-old from Region Four and a 55-year-old from Region Two. They both died while receiving care at a medical facility.

Meanwhile, the 24 new cases increased the country’s total number of confirmed positive cases to 22,643. These came in the wake of 839 more tests that were done, taking the total number of tests to date to 228,511.

New cases were reported in five of the ten regions with one new case in Region One, two new cases each in regions Two, Three and Six, along with 17 new cases in Region Four.

There are now 735 active cases, 87 of which are in institutional isolation while another 648 are in home isolation. Some 12 persons are patients at the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit and 1,106 more persons have recovered. The country’s total number of recovered cases now stands at 22,327.
