The country now has two more COVID-19 deaths along with 62 new cases.
This was disclosed in a Ministry of Health press release yesterday which also stated that the country’s total fatalities have increased to 551. The latest fatalities were identified as two men, a 48-year-old and a 62-year-old both from Region Four. According to the release the deaths occurred as of August 3.
The 62 new cases that were reported have increased Guyana’s total case count to 22,705. These came after some 1,374 more tests were done, raising the total number of tests done to date to 229,885.
New cases were reported in six of the ten regions with one new case in Region One, seven in Region Three, 31 in Region Four, 5 in Region Six, 14 in Region Nine, and 4 new cases in Region Ten. There are now 691 active cases, 91 of whom are in institutional isolation while 600 are in home isolation.
Currently, 11 persons are patients at the country’s COVID-19 intensive care unit.
