The Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) has given the Guyana Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (GBFF) a huge lift by assisting to help to fund the cost for the airfare of the 10-member contingent to El Salvador.
These and other details were disclosed yesterday during a press briefing at the GOA’s headquarters in Liliendaal.
The contingent which includes eight athletes and two officials are scheduled to depart on August 10 and 12 in two groups to be a part of the 48th annual Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships. The event will be staged from August 12-16 in the capital, San Salvador. The sport of bodybuilding and fitness will make its debut at the Pan Am Games in Chile in 2023, hence the GOA has begun to earmark the sport and its standout athletes as representatives of the 592 at the event in two years, according to the president of the association, K Juman-Yassin. He also expressed confidence in the team returning with hardware.
In turn, President of the GBFF, Keavon Bess echoed similar sentiments and added that he was thankful for the GOA coming onboard to assist the contingent.
Bess also informed that during the Congress of the event on August 13, a bid will be placed to host the annual fixture in 2023.
The ten-member outfit led by Bess includes Kerwin Clarke, Emmerson Campbell, Yannick Grimes, Darious Ramsammy, Rawle Green, Nicholas Albert, Roger Callender, Rosanna Fung, and Coach Videsh Sookram.
