The Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) on Friday announced new entry requirements for visitors, who are now required to show proof of vaccination against COVID-19, except for those seeking emergency attention.
The GPHC said the new requirements, implemented with immediate effect, are in keeping with the recently updated COVID-19 Emergency Measures, which restrict the access by unvaccinated persons to government agencies to by appointment only.
In an advisory, GPHC said that unvaccinated persons who were seeking to enter the compound will not be permitted to visit patients or any clinical areas. If the person has an appointment, they must produce a negative PCR test, it added.
“Only persons seeking emergency medical attention will be permitted to enter the compound without showing proof of vaccination,” it said, while adding that those persons who may be accompanying a patient must present their vaccination card and national ID before being permitted to enter the Emergency Department.
Meanwhile, the GPHC urged persons who need to conduct birth or death registrations, patients who visit the various clinics and others who have scheduled elective procedures to prioritise being vaccinated so as to continue use of the services.
