An alleged hit and run along Main Street, New Amsterdam, on Saturday around 7 pm has left a pedestrian hospitalised with a fractured skull at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
The police reported yesterday, that based their inquiries, a motor vehicle was proceeding north along Main Street, New Amsterdam, allegedly at a fast rate of speed when the pedestrian who was crossing, was struck.
“Said motor vehicle collided with him causing him to be thrown onto the windshield then onto the road surface where he received injuries about his body,” the statement noted.
The man was rushed in an unconscious state to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital by ranks of the Fire Service, where he was examined and transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital. He remains in serious condition and is reportedly suffering from a fractured skull.
Police are making efforts to locate the driver as well as positively identify the injured man.
Investigations into the accident are ongoing.
