Two new COVID-19 deaths were on Thursday reported, taking the country’s total death count from the virus to 569.
The latest fatalities were confirmed by the Health Ministry in a press release issued yesterday afternoon. It stated that as of August 11, two more persons who tested positive for the virus had died. The latest fatalities were identified as a 64-year-old woman, from Region Six, and a 51-year-old man, from Region Three. The both died while receiving care at a medical facility.
Meanwhile, according to the COVID-19 dashboard, 88 new cases were recorded and as a result the total number of confirmed positive cases in the country recorded to date increased to 23,244. The latest infections were confirmed from 1,411 more tests that were done.
New cases were reported in eight of the ten administrative regions; 6 new cases in Region One, 1 new case each in regions Two and Ten, 9 new cases each in regions Three and Six, 40 new cases in Region Four, 5 in Region Five, and 17 in Region Seven
The dashboard showed 811 active cases, 80 of which are in institutional isolation, and 731 in home isolation. It further said 16 persons are now patients at the COVID-19 ICU even as 49 more persons have recovered from the virus.
