Guyana has recorded another COVID-19 fatality along with 100 new cases of the virus.
The Ministry of Health yesterday revealed that the country’s total number of deaths as a result of the Novel Coronavirus increased to 570. The latest fatality was identified as a 75-year-old woman, from Region Ten, who died while receiving care at a state medical institution.
Meanwhile, the COVID-19 dashboard showed 100 new cases, increasing the total number of infections recorded to date by the country to 23,344. The new infections were confirmed from 973 more tests that were done.
New infections were reported in eight regions, with 2 new cases each being reported in regions One and Five, 3 new cases each in regions Two, Nine and Ten, 15 in Region Three, 65 in Region Four and 7 in Region Six.
There are now 847 active cases, 86 of which are in institutional isolation, while 761 cases are in home isolation. Additionally, 14 persons are currently patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit.
