Roraima Airways has confirmed that five persons received injuries after one of its aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing this morning near the Haags Bosch landfill, on the East Bank of Demerara.
Roraima Group CEO Gerry Gouveia, who said the cause of the accident is unknown, explained that it occurred on approach by the Trislander aircraft to landing at the Eugene Correia International Airport.
In a statement, he said all five persons aboard the aircraft – three passengers and two crewmembers – are alive and are receiving medical attention at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
They were extracted and transported to Camp Ayanganna by the Guyana Defence Force and then taken to GPHC.
“None of the injuries are considered life threatening, according to initial medical evaluations,” Gouveia’s statement added.
