Days after he reportedly ingested a poisonous substance, a man was yesterday found dead.
The man was identified as Dwight Kirk, 40, of Company Road, Buxton, East Coast Demerara and also of Craig, East Bank Demerara.
The body, which was lying at the Jerrick’s Funeral Home up to last evening, is awaiting identification by relatives and a post-mortem examination to confirm the cause of his death.
According to the Guyana Police Force, enquiries revealed that Kirk visited a friend on August 12 and confided in him that he was having domestic problems.
He further disclosed that as a result of the problems he ingested a poisonous substance and he refused to visit a hospital or clinic.
Subsequently, at about 7.35 am yesterday, Kirk was seen vomiting at a nearby shop.
A customer also present at the shop turned around after some time and found him lying motionless. No marks of violence were seen on the exposed parts of Kirk’s body.
The report stated that an ambulance was summoned to the scene and a doctor pronounced him dead.
The Guyana Police Force has since launched an investigation surrounding the circumstances of the death.
