Keron Sandiford with a rating of 1529, was the top Guyana player when the FIDE Online Rapid World Cup competition ended yesterday.
Sandiford, competing in the U18 category, ended the competition with four wins from the 10 contested rounds.
His wins came in rounds three, five, seven and 10.
In round three, Sandiford defeated Aidan Mart (1262) and got the better of Daniel Doria, unrated, in round five.
He then defeated Kyriakos Georgiou (1303) in round seven before ending the competition with a win over compatriot Akil Theophil in round 10.
Theophil ended with three wins from his 10 rounds. His wins came in rounds four and eight while he also received a bye in round 9.
In round four Theophil defeated Pablo Gonzalez Lopez (1143) and Shamir Martin (1319) in round eight.
The other Under18 contestant Oluwadare Oyeyipo ended with a solitary win over Martin in round three.
In the U16 category, Raevon Adonis ended with two wins from 10 matches winning in round four over Luyepo Sauti (1379)and in round six over Candidate Master Nathan Smith(1672).
Kishan Puran ended with three wins. His wins came in round four over Chung Hei Au, in round eight over CM Smith and in round 10 over Adonis.
Matthew Singh ended with two wins, a round five victory over Constantinos Kapelos (1154) and bye in round nine.
In the U12 girls’ division Anaya Lall ended with three points. She defeated Vandina Maharaj in round six, whipped Nave Smith in round eight and gained a bye in round 10 while in the girls U14 division, Maliha Rajkumar ended with three wins. After gaining a bye in round six, she defeated Carol Ndlovu in round seven and Guyanese Pooja Lam in round 10.
Italy Ton Chung ended with two wins. She defeated (WCM) Nasya Noreena Flores (1410) in the first round and Suriya Matandara Clarke in round eight.
Lam also ended with two wins defeating Aradhana Ramnarine Singh in round three and Naila Rahaman in round seven.
Rahaman ended with a solitary point.
In the boys U14 division Emmanuel Primus scored a solitary win defeating Tadan Ferguson in round five.
