A miner of Richmond village, in Region Two, succumbed yesterday after he stabbed his girlfriend then used the knife on himself.
Dead is Andy Williams, who was a father of two.
According to information reaching Stabroek News, the man reportedly stabbed his girlfriend, Shellisa Abass, a businesswoman, of Devonshire Castle, in an attack around 9 am at the Anna Regina Market.
The couple were report to have had a heated argument as Abass tried to end the relationship. Williams, said to be armed with a knife at the time, refused to accept her decision and dealt her a wound to her left wrist.
Abass managed to flee while Williams subsequently used the same knife to harm himself. Both Williams and Abass received treatment at the Suddie Public Hospital. The man, however, succumbed to his injuries.
