Dear Editor,
I was employed continuously from December 1986 to October 2016 when I retired. My total contribution to the NIS should have been 52429 + 10 months. I also worked part time from January to June 2003 with the Guyana Eye Clinic and contributions that should equal 1582. I joined the Guyana Police Force/Presidential Guard in October 1992 retiring in October 2016; however this is the most troubling period. The NIS outreach personnel are claiming that it is the employer’s failure that workers’ contributions are not made. I am of the belief that it’s the GPF or Office of the President that did not pay up my contribution. In 2017 I requested and got a print out which showed 1415 contributions however on 29th July, 2021 I again requested and received another print out, which to my surprise, showed that my contribution totaled 1405, whereas according to my calculations it should have been 1582.
Sincerely,
Jaichan Jaikaran
