Biker injured after Ogle embankment collision

A motorcyclist is now a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) after he collided with a truck early on Wednesday morning along the Ogle Railway Embankment, East Coast Demerara.

The injured man was identified as Odysseus Clement, 32, of Sophia, Georgetown.

According to a Guyana Police Force report, around 6 am on Wednesday, Rajiv Ramkumar, 30, who was the driver of a truck, GGG 9813, was heading west along the southern side of the road and about to negotiate a left turn when he felt an impact to the left side of the front part of the vehicle. Clement was said to be proceeding west of the Railway Embankment also.

The motorcyclist was picked up in a conscious state and transported to the GPH, where he was admitted. As a result of the accident, Clement suffered a fractured right leg, among other injuries to his body.

The driver of the truck was taken into custody after the accident.
